Entry No. 15
Every Single Time
Life lately has been full of the good stuff. Quality time with loved ones. Celebrating my sorority chapter and my friends beginning beautiful journeys of marriage and motherhood in their lives. Empowering and transforming the lives of Black, brown and marginalized creatives. Fasting, praying and listening to God.

And a whole lot of reflecting. On my 2023 intention, vision and goals. On prioritizing healthy relationships, boundaries, habits and choices. On becoming a better version of myself. On God’s word, plans and very best for me. On traveling, living and thriving abroad and beautiful experiences to come this year.
Which brings me to: the not so good stuff.
Life lately has also been full of resistance. A whole lot of resistance. Although it hasn’t been an easy process, I’ve been doing my best to identify when, where and how resistance has been showing up in my life—especially the why.
Which brings me to: moving through fear.
Fear has been the root cause of a lot of my limiting behaviors and beliefs—especially perfectionism. That’s a whole different journal entry from another day but thank God for self-awareness, therapy and growth.
Being courageous may seem to come effortless to someone like me who moved to New York City with my ambition and an acceptance letter to pursue my graduate degree and dream career or traveling solo and living abroad across 8 countries, 16 cities and counting—but it’s work. Work that I have no idea I’m signing up for half the time but essential and necessary for someone who wants to live the life they desire and deserve.Â
Which brings me to: do the work.
I’m choosing to do the work. Especially the inner-work. As much or as little as I need to. Over and over again. If that’s what it takes to live the life I desire and deserve, I’ll choose to do the work—every single time.
